Priority Youth Project Liverpool

Tom Mahamotho

Youth and Play Worker

Tom has worked for Priority Youth since he was 20. Prior to that he was a young person supported by Sarah and Will, at the age of 16 was forced to grow up really fast due to a change in family circumstances. Wise beyond his years, he was an ideal candidate to start working as a youth and play worker and help give to support others who may be going through a difficult period in their lives. In his words 'I'm Tom Mahamotho, aged 22, I love watching and playing football and I am a big Red!

I've been a member of staff for over a year but my connection with Priority Youth goes way back to when I was a kid and I attended the youth project myself. Priority youth have given me support through times where I may of struggled without support, I realised that is with their help that I was provided with the same opportunities and chances to other young people in the city. I gained my coaching and personal training qualifications which got me on the correct path. I now work with the children in our Junior Club in the Deysbrook centre weekly and teach them sports and promote healthy lifestyles.

I also go out and about on detached work to see some of the young people we already know, and promote our work to others that would like to be involved in what we do'
